Professor Yee holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon (Pittsburgh, USA). At HKUST, prior to joining the ISD, he had taught in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering Department and the Division of Environment and Sustainability.
Having spent over 20 years at multi-national corporations in the US and Asia in a variety of roles, including R&D, technology transfer, technical sales, and strategic and tactical marketing, Professor Yee prioritizes getting students ready for the working world. To facilitate their successful transition, he stresses soft, or transferable skills such as effective teamwork, management, and communication, which are relevant to any career. He also strongly recommends that students expand outside their comfort zones through new experiences.
Professor Yee’s research interests include technology and product development and management, as well as entrepreneurship to develop sustainable businesses. He is also interested to work on the topics of mentorship and diversity awareness and appreciation, leveraging his experience as a trainer and creator of these types of programs in his previous corporate and university experience.
