We would like to congratulate our faculty member, Prof. Sai-Kit Yeung, on having his research work on 3D Knitting accepted by ACM SIGGRAPH 2021!

His research team introduces a flexible and customizable system called KnitKit for the computational design and production of functional, multi-material, and 3D-knitted textiles. This breakthrough system greatly simplifies the 3D knitting process, and allows non-expert users to design knitted textiles with customized, complex, 3D geometries and intricate design patterns by high-level design specification in terms of geometry, stitch patterns, materials or colors. Previously this required knowledge of the low-level and machine-specific knitting instruction. Please see the project page for further details.

The paper will be presented in the live session Fabrication 2: Knitting and Sewing, at 10pm HKT Tuesday August 10th, 2021
